A change is as good as a rest

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend.

Here in the UK the weather has been wonderful and on Sunday I took an early morning train up to the university town of Oxford for the Sunday Times Literary Festival. It was my first visit to the Oxford colleges – and I loved it.

The workshop I was attending was at Queens College but the festival itself was based in the superb Christ Church, providing a perfect opportunity to wander down the ancient lanes from college to college and peeking through the gates inside.

And how could I resist a free exhibition of illuminated manuscripts at the world famous Bodleian Library? I had books, ancient manuscripts, a superb historical setting and sunshine.  All in all, a great and inspiring day treat for a writer. I shall definitely return to Oxford again.
